Systems Test Technician
CurrentAs a Systems test technician I am responsible for monitoring different servers being used by leading AI/cloud technology providers while they are being ran through different hardware stress tests and software tests/updates.If the servers have any issues or failures during their tests I then would troubleshoot the serving using Linux directories and different commands to find what is exactly failing in the server, recording everything through a ticket system digitally and physically on paper. Failures can range from simple bugs to failed components that did not make it through stress tests.Once I find out what the issue is I take the necessary steps to fix it by replacing components, updating software, or even simply turning the server off and on. Once a server passes all of its test I then am responsible for QC (Quality Control) passing the server which is then sent to different data centers.Working as a test technician has helped me fine tune my Linux OS skills and also troubleshooting in a more digital/technical way while also communicating with my coworkers to solve issues together with different ideas and approaches when needed. I also am in a role known as a champion that requires me to manage technicians and monitor the work flow in a testing line that the servers/racks are connected to and worked on at. This role forces me to think about bigger picture information such as delivery dates, productivity, and building relationships with my technicians. For this role it is also required to be knowledgeable in all of the customers servers we work on.
