I work with my editorial board and authors to publish peer-reviewed journal articles that are research-based or feature best practices. JCHE serves the leaders, administrators, faculty, and staff who work with adult/nontraditional/post-traditional students or provide continuing education within higher education. These students are often employed who may study online, attend as commuters, and are transfer students. They are served through credit and noncredit offerings in both traditional and innovative formats (i.e. online, off-campus, accelerated, etc.).

Conducting enrollment and program reviews for Antioch University (2022), North Carolina Wesleyan (2019), Brigham Young University (2015), Emerson College (2005), Nebraska Wesleyan University (2001-2002), and Columbia College (2000) has been a delight. I serve with the Higher Learning Commission in Quality Assurance Reviews for the University of Tulsa (2023), University of Minnesota (2021), St. John's University (2022). Serving as External Examiner for doctoral students at the University of South Africa and participating in tenure reviews for St. Louis University has been enjoyable. I've served with the Council for Adult and Experiential Learning (CAEL) as a faculty trainer for prior learning assessment. Other service as a consultant includes the Unitarian Universalist Association; Retail, Wholesale, Department Store Union, Transport Workers Union, National Labor College, University of Iowa, and the U.S. Agency for International Development. I served as a member of the federal court’s Desegregation Monitoring Committee in 1993-1994 to implement the desegregation and school improvement order for the Kansas City, Missouri school district.

As Dean of this degree completion unit with a proud 100 year heritage of service to working adults in Chicago, I was responsible for online, evening, weekend, and summer accelerated programs at our campuses; overseeing hiring, compensation, and development for 110 full-time and part-time faculty; sustaining academic quality by developing and implementing online and on-ground course standards; coordinating with enrollment management and marketing for a growing web presence; implementing outreach to employers and community colleges, chairing the academic policy making body for the University; directly supervising 14 staff; and implementing a $4 million revenue and expenditure budget. Recent accomplishments include a 220% rise in enrollments after a long period of decline, gaining approval for 4 new majors as well as new concentrations, recent distinction as the #1 in Illinois and #14 in the U.S. online degree program in U.S. News and World Report.
