CurrentYoung Men in Transition, IncHistoryYoung Men In Transition, Inc., (YMT) formed in September, 2009, is a non-profit organization based in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Its founder, Wanda Ramirez, is a wife and mother of a blended family of five sons. She is a lifetime resident of Lake Charles, and has a passion for helping adolescent boys safely transition from adolescence to manhood. Her goal is to make a difference in the lives of tomorrow’s leaders, husbands, fathers, pastors, and business men. Mission StatementYoung Men in Transition is a comprehensive mentoring program designed to empower young men from all backgrounds and ethnicities to overcome the pitfalls and personal challenges of adolescence and develop the character and moral foundation that will enable them to mature into independent, self-sufficient, productive members of society. To teach them about whom they are in God, so they can meditate on God’s word.Young Men in Transition enjoys doing community service work in Calcaseiu Parish, assisting others when needed. We would ask if you can find it in your hearts to make donations, big or small to help us in our efforts.Crime Prevention – keep participants out of the criminal justice system..Personal and Interpersonal skills Alcohol and Drug Awareness and Prevention Sex Education –teach the participants the life threatening dangers of unsafe sex.Respect for Authority – teach the participants the realities of hierarchy in society in business and personal relationships, and the importance and benefits of respecting others.Positive Mental Attitude BeliefsWe believe that every young man in our community deserves a happy, fulfilling life with nothing missing and nothing broken.We believe that every young man in our community can complete his education and grow up to be a productive member of society.We believe that every young man in our community has the potential to be a loving, responsible man who will be a leader in the community.
