On returning to South Africa, I opted for a role in the investment industry as opposed to another role at a financial services regulator. The Client Portfolio Analyst role required the implementation and monitoring of client investment portfolios and the recommending of changes for rebalancing. Preparation of reports and analysis for attending the regular client meetings where discussions are held as to the performance and any changes required in order to meet the clients investment needs and objective. Dealing with the daily tasks and interactions with clients.

During my time at he FSA and expansion of the regulatory framework required to regulate friendly and mutual societies, I was appointed as the Project Manager for the implementation of this change across the business which required obtaining an understanding the regulatory environment required, system and process changes, staff hiring and training and dealing with the sensitivity of the change with direct and personal communication with members of these societies, media and politicians. Following the successful implementation the role evolved into a Team Leader role managing the new team of staff hired.

Dealing with various Heads of business in setting budgets and forecasts targets and resolving discrepancies and variances. Strong reporting and communication skills in preparing monthly and year-end financial reports. Analytical skills in identifying trends for providing guidance and corrective action.
