Warren has spent all of his life in education and sports - 24 years at the secondary level as a teacher, coach, and headmaster; 6 years as a college coach; and 2 years teaching and coaching students in grades 5 - 8. Since retiring as Headmaster of Burke Mountain Academy in 1984 he has continued to serve the school and a trustee and advisor.Warren is currently working on four writing projects - A book about Burke Mountain Academy titled "One School That Works, Lessons From Burke Mountain Academy" with co-author David Evrard; and three major articles on related but distinctly different topics: Simplifying Mechanics in Basketball Shooting; New Designs for High Performance Athletic Shoes; and New Approaches to Reducing ACL Injuries in Women's Sports.As an athlete, coach and writer, Warren Witherell has been honored by induction in both the U.S. National Water Ski Hall of Fame (1984) and the U.S National Snow Ski Hall of Fame (1998).Warren has won three world championships and set numerous national and world records in water skiing. He has been coaching international class athletes in both of the ski sports for 50+ years -- including 12 skiers who have won a combined 25 Olympic or World Championship medals.In 1970, Warren founded Burke Mountain Academy - The first sports academy in America. Burke combines a college preparatory education with world class sports training in Alpine and Nordic Skiing. Over 115 students and alumni of this school have been named to the U.S Ski Team, and 43 to Olympic Teams.Warren has published two books and more than 30 feature articles on body mechanics, balance, and economy of motion in the ski sports. His books on snow skiing - "How The Racers Ski" and "The Athletic Skier" with David Evrard have been translated into French and Japanese respectively and have had a huge influence on ski technique world-wide.Warren has conducted more than 400 clinics in the U.S., Canada, Austria, Italy, Sweden, Chile, New Zealand and Japan.
