Every day is a new day at Backsafe – you never know what challenge is around the corner – and that’s just the way I like it.As an Account Director, I’m in the thick of it, managing enquiries from new clients and briefs from existing ones. I’m responsible for nurturing those relationships, as well as the relationships within our team, to ensure we find smarter, safer materials handling and storage solutions.For me, it’s all about being open, creative and collaborative. It’s all about listening and really understanding the situation from your perspective and, crucially, every operator’s perspective.It’s what we call human-centred engineering. We look at everything – not just the technical, budgetary and legislative limitations but the practical hazards, ergonomics and workflows. It’s what enables us to pool our experience and resources to solve each problem as efficiently as possible. But while the solution might look simple, getting there isn’t always easy.We have to bring together a lot of technical expertise to deliver something that takes a client’s problem and pain away. Keeping the lines of communication clear when we’re working under pressure can be tough. Again, it’s about being open and listening.But that’s what makes my work so rewarding: the challenge of providing a turnkey solution that instantly makes your life and work easier.
