About Scott Watson
Dr. Scott Watson received his B.S., Music Education from West Chester University and his M.M and D.M.A., Composition from Temple University. After a successful 35-year band director/music educator career in the Parkland School District (Allentown, Pennsylvania), Watson is now Professor of Music at Cairn University (Langhorne, PA) where he teachers courses in music ed, composition and music technology.An award-winning and frequently commissioned composer, Dr. Watson’s output includes more than 100 published works at all levels for concert band and orchestra. Watson’s music has been performed around the world and in the U.S. (Philadelphia’s Academy of Music, the White House, the Midwest Clinic), and is described as “outstanding...with beautiful melodies and interesting harmonies" (The Instrumentalist) and "written with supreme craft" (PAS Percussive Notes). His music has received recognition from the American Composers Forum, the American Music Center, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, the Percussive Arts Society, and others. Recent commissions include: Composers & Schools in Concert (consortium of 12 bands across the U.S.), Magic Valley Symphony (Twin Falls, ID), Albemarle County (VA) Middle School Honors Band, MusicAlliance Honor Band Camp (Cleveland, OH) and the Massachusetts Instrumental and Choral Conductors Association. He is an exclusive composer for Alfred Music and a contributor to and clinician for their Sound Innovations Series. Watson has presented numerous clinics for music educators, including the 2022 Iowa Bandmasters Conference, 2020 California All-State Music Educators Conference, 2019 New Hampshire Music Educators Spring Conference, 2018 Mississippi State University Band Directors Workshop, 2017 Midwest Band & Orchestra Clinic (Chicago, IL), 2017 MENC Eastern Division Conference (Atlantic City, NJ), 2015 NAfME National Conference (Nashville, TN), and keynote for the 2013 Music Technology in Education Conference (Melbourne, Australia). He frequently serves as guest conductor for honor band festivals.
