Responsible for the technical governance and functional leadership of all 700+ Cavendish Nuclear engineering & scientific resource. Key responsibilities have included:• Act as the single point of technical accountability for all technical stakeholder/customer engagement, project delivery and business development/winning activities• Oversee and ensure governance of the business technical processes across the engineering product / service lifecycle to ensure compliance with statutory requirements (e.g. safety, legislation, policy, etc.) and that they are being delivered innovatively to make nuclear delivery safer, faster and at lower cost.• Lead the development of the effectiveness, capability and resource management of all technical discipline resources to ensure they are SQEP and meet the current, and future, operational and strategic requirements of the business• Line management leadership of all Chief Engineers, Technical Capability Heads & Business Unit Heads of Engineering across the business• Demonstrate visible leadership and commitment to the application of highest standards for health and safety and ensure all engineering and scientific resource co-operate with respect to company standards with regard to matters on health, safety and environment, ethics and behaviours• Promote and drive a continuous improvement culture, including monitoring external developments in order to identify and introduce new approaches, technologies and innovative ways of working to ensure the company’s engineering management activities remain best in class

Secondment within Magnox Ltd as part of the Parent Body Organisation (PBO) transfer to Cavendish Fluor Partnership (CFP) in September 2014. Initial requirements of this role were to discharge the responsibilities of the previous PBO role incumbent, whilst leading the review, adaptation and integration of the CFP waste management and decommissioning approaches developed as part of the PBO Bid into an enhanced Magnox integrated waste management and decommissioning strategy that was acceptable to all internal, regulatory and customer stakeholders. Role then developed to support the integration of a revised technical delivery model, self-developed as part of my responsibilities on the successful PBO competitive tender.Following the successful completion of these objectives the role broadened into a wider governance and functional management remit to provide technical leadership, governance and assurance that the company maintained an effective technical strategy, capability and technical solutions to support delivery of the Waste Management, Decommissioning and post-closure Care & Maintenance programmes.

Technical/engineering responsibility for the leadership, direction and coordination of the multi-functional design and safety teams for a number of high profile projects and bids. These included:• Leading the technical and engineering approach for the successful Cavendish Fluor Partnership Magnox/RSRL NDA competition submission• Cavendish Nuclear technical lead on the succesful Cavendish Boccard Nuclear’s Balance of Plant/Nuclear Island submissions for EDF New Build at Hinkley Point C• Sellafield B30 Sludge Conditioning Project competitive dialogue delivery• Babcock/VT Environmental Engineering’s waste management ventures in developing novel gasification/pyrolysis process & plant• Tokai Magnox Station waste retrieval and processing concept designs• Management of the waste processing and storage requirements within the design phase of the Dounreay RHILW Treatment & Storage facility• Engineering management of a number of waste management and storage projects within the MoD business unitMany of these roles have required formal and informal project management responsibilities beyond technical delivery. This includes considerable experience in planning, performance monitoring and reporting, change management, supply chain engagement, and stakeholder management all within an NEC contractual environment. Role has also required significant knowledge of relevant national and international environmental/safety strategy and standards, with consistent interaction and relationship development with Regulators (e.g. ONR, EA, SEPA) and other key project stakeholders (e.g. NDA, RWM Ltd) to support client and business objectives.
