The voters of North Carolina elected me as the State's 10th Insurance Commissioner in 2008 and re-elected me in 2012. In this job, I also serve as the State Fire Marshal. Since taking the oath of office, I have saved individuals, families and businesses more than $2.4 BILLION through insurance rate cuts, refunds, rebates and restitution, and fighting insurance fraud. Through the work of my team, we've helped ensure that North Carolina drivers have the lowest average automobile insurance premiums in the South and, as of an April 2015 report, the lowest in the USA.
