Leading a team of four, my role is to support a wide range of internal and client facing business systems, covering functions including finance, HR and payroll. This includes maintaining the Finance Data and Access databases used for data reporting and manipulation as well as the client-facing temp time capture and billing system used by 5,000 temp workers and their employers across the UK and North America. This role has a strong project management focus, leading the development, implementation, configuration, maintenance, upgrade, testing, disaster recovery and procurement of new systems and solutions that add significant business value. System knowledge includes: Coda Financials 11.3, Cadenza Billing, ADP Payroll, Paygate and Concur ExpensesKey achievements in this role include:- Spearheading the change to a cloud based SaaS approach to the finance systems development strategy resulting in a simplified BCP strategy and greater flexibility through remote working- Consolidating all HR and payroll solutions in the UK, US and Canada with the migration of temp and perm payroll to ADP- Successfully delivering other finance system migration projects including Access 2003 to Access 2013 and Citrix to desktop deployment - Playing a key role in a major project to transition the North American finance function to the UK shared service centre

Following promotion within Rank to Group Financial Systems Manager, I gained full responsibility for the development, maintenance and support of all financial systems. By introducing controls, procedures and an issues tracker, I built an extensive knowledgebase of issues and resolutions. I also created a financial systems roadmap. System knowledge includes: Coda Financials 11.3, Hyperion 6, Expenses 360, a bespoke procurement system, Natwest Payaway and Bottomline PaybaseKey achievements in this role included:- Managing the seamless integration of 19 casinos acquired from Gala Coral, focusing on financials, procurement and BI reporting - Successfully building a high performing team able to support all reporting and finance systems, including training the replacement Group Financial Systems Manager prior to departure, who remains in place to this day

The primary focus of my role was to ensure all business critical systems were developed and fully supported to enable improvements in company reporting and operations. To facilitate this, I managed a key project to define a new strategy and tool / delivery method for business reporting. I also designed and built multiple suites of reports and dashboards for 300+ users across the business, providing the ability to perform ad hoc analysis and self-serve reports. The creation of MDX calculations in OLAP cubes enabled me to deliver standardised reporting. Working with BI, finance and key stakeholders of the business, I was able to ensure that requirements were met when developing new cubes. Leading three direct reports within the BI Development Team, I also oversaw the provision of training to end users to optimise use of the new BI tool.Key achievements in this role included:- Delivering an innovative solution that met requirements based on OLAP Cube technology with a user-friendly tool-XL Cubed- Working with the software provider to drive improvements in the BI solution and positioning Rank as beta testers on the product- Introducing proactive exception reporting to enable issues to be identified before they impacted the business- Facilitating the seamless flow of data into reporting, with no disruption to end users, during the transition from Oracle to Coda Financials - Developing a solution to enable front end reporting to provide figures based on Like for Like or as reported- Managing the seamless integration of financial and statistical data from Spanish and Belgian operations into the BI Data Warehouse - Instigating the use of the UK machine management system in Spain resulting in improved detail and standardised reporting across all brands- Spearheading an initiative to group BI development into an Agile Framework (Scrum) and served as Scrum Master- Successfully repairing previously damaged relationships with BI and IT teams

My role with the residential funding division of General Motors proved particularly challenging as this was a period of volatility for the general financial industry. I was to ensure the support and development of robust financial systems and associated processes whilst simultaneously representing finance in business critical projects. During this time, I also substantially improved relationships between finance and the IT and BI functions. System knowledge includes: PeopleSoft, Sungard Quantum, Access and Excel Key achievements in this role included:- Creating new processes in line with business change to enable finance to meet internal and external requirements- Maintaining optimum database functionality during the upgrade from Office 2003 to Office 2007 in conjunction with IT- Designing and building a mortgage procuration fee database, automating monthly reconciliation to reduce time taken from 2 days to 2 hours, improving accuracy and traceability of accounts and amortising each live procuration fee to create reconciliations in 10 minutes rather than 2 weeks - Creating a new loan revaluation database to provide LOCOM valuations for all loans, reducing time taken from 20 man hours per month to just 10 minutes and improving accuracy of calculations
