Reporting to the Manager, Personal Insurance the Team Leader, Personal Insurance works with colleagues and staff to maintain a profitable personal insurance portfolio and to meet growth targets and provides the first level of supervision in personal insurance. The incumbent works within established underwriting authority and service levels and accepts and properly rates personal insurance applications, endorsements and renewals with a large premium volume and complex risks. .SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES: 1. Ensuring that personal insurance policies are selected according to corporate guidelines and rated correctly and accurately on the policy management system. 2. Supervising personal lines staff including hiring, setting and monitoring performance goals and managing performance and development, administering the salary program, and conducting separations. 3. Maintaining service levels by organizing and/or monitoring workflow and setting priorities to ensure maximum efficiency and productivity. 4. Providing guidance, technical advice and training to staff and brokers. 5. Recommending, monitoring and enforcing underwriting authority limits for staff. 6. Overseeing completion of quarterly staff and broker audits.7. Reviewing large loss reports and ensuring correct action is taken. 8. Handling complex accounts, referrals and exceptions. 9. Providing accurate information to customers primarily via the telephone, memo or email.10. Handling customer complaints.11. Performing broker visits when required.12. Contributing to the broker management process. 13. Completing and implementing action plans resulting from Head Office audit recommendations.14. Holding regular department meetings and communicating company goals, underwriting appetite and results to staff. 15. Keeping abreast of changes in the marketplace, new products, rates, laws and regulations and implementing changes to workflow and training that may result.
