At my core I am an ownership style leader. I tend to be obsessive about doing things faster and better. I try to engage others to perform in the same manner. I consistently demand more from poor performers. If you allow yourself to put more on the hard workers and let lazy be lazy your will only create more bad employees. Instead I will ask more of the members who are not performing well. Typically most people viewed as lazy or incompetent have not been led well and shown a better way. The only way you can do this when you are in the position to lead is to have an attitude of a servant. I always strive give those that work for me every chance to succeed and look out for their well being. The other side to this is when you give members a solid work plan, the tools and equipment, personnel and have them set up for success this will eliminate excuses. The example I strive to set will be the benchmark for my expectations. I refuse to expect more of others than myself. I firmly believe that no matter position, title or task I am give I will succeed. This confidence comes from the thought process that if I surround myself with people who are better at certain aspects of what they do then myself, I will constantly improve. This can only be done if you equip those around you so that they can improve. I am the key to my own success and failure is not an option. Throughout my career I have learned many lessons. Some have came easy and others were hard fought and difficult. The easiest lesson to learn was in order to provide for your family and have the things you need you must work and when you have a job you show up when your supposed to. One of the hardest lessons I have learned is being a hard worker, going above and beyond what is expected, and doing what you think is best for others may not give you the results your looking for. Through these experiences I have learned to change who I work for so that I maintain a good attitude and outlook. I no longer work for those whom I answer to or the company at which I am employed. I work for my God, my family and those that depend on me. I do all that I do for them and I will work tirelessly until I have no more to honor my God, provide for my family and take care of anyone that depends on me. Through this lesson I have learned that when you change who you work for, you become more consistent, reliable and dependable. This is because you no longer allow superiors, peers and subordinates to dictate your work ethic.
