Designed and implemented a complete network monitoring suite including user/account management for Prgmr.com's site using Python, MySQL database, and the Django framework. Resolved a BIOS conflict preventing Xen hypervisor from starting correctly on some hardware.

Pursued several small projects for my own use and/or edification, including: an image filtering algorithm in Ruby, stock-screening scripts in Python, various scripts for algorithmic currency trading using a proprietary language (MQL4) and a plugin for eBay Buy it Now listings in the Chrome browser using Javascript/JSON.

Designed, developed and optimized performance of numerous features and enhancements to the user interface of the Synplicity Business Group's electronic design automation (EDA) tools, including the constraint editor (Excel-like spreadsheet view), schematic viewer, and Tcl scripting commands to generate and search netlists, among other things.

Designed and developed various user-interface features for Packet Design's Route Explorer tool, a network appliance created to analyze, troubleshoot and anticipate network routing problems for very large-scale networks. The platform was a custom Linux build and the software was written using Qt 3 and C++ STL.

Designed, implemented, and maintained web-based software for bookseller automation. Implemented on FreeBSD using PHP, Perl and PostgreSQL. Created and maintained scripts for automated pricing of used books, Library of Congress search, and automatic generation of CSV files for upload to online retailers such as amazon.com and half.com. Implemented in PHP and Perl.

Projects included:QextSerialPort, a cross-platform serial-port library developed for use with the QT cross-platform applications framework. Developed in Visual C++ 6 and targets all POSIX.3-compliant operating systems, including Linux, QNX, UNIX, and Mac OS X as well as all Win32 operating systems. Original developer and maintainer. This project was taken over by the Google Code initiative and currently resides on Github.QextDateTimeSpinbox, a cross-platform date and/or time entry UI widget developed for use with the QT application framework. Developed in Visual C++ 6 and targets all Win32 operating systems, and all POSIX.1 compliant operating systems. Sole developer and maintainer.Net::freedb, a cross-platform Perl module to allow interfacing with the CDDB/FreeDB music database protocol from within Perl code. Rewrote Windows back-end using MCI multimedia API and Visual C++ 6, with ActiveState Perl version 5.6.

Implemented charting component for historical stock data. Developed using MFC and Visual C++ 6. Partially redesigned system architecture. Increased stability of satellite data-feed transfer components. Ported charting component from Windows 2000/SQL Server to UNIX/MySQL using gcc, C, PHP, and Perl.

Designed and implemented application to interface a proprietary network card, allowing the user to control up to 124 access control panels from a single workstation. Designed and developed new version of software in cross-platform environment using Visual C++ and gcc. Revised internal data structures and user interface for greater speed and efficiency. Developed emulator for proprietary network card to facilitate testing and debugging. Wrote database-import utilities using GNU flex and Visual C++. Utilized Perl to automate compilation. Implemented install script using InstallShield.

Designed and implemented video codecs for animations, and archiving compressor for Cavewars video game. Designed and implemented 16-bit installation application. Developed code for procedural visual effects and save game routines. Wrote multithreaded sound code that allowed simultaneous playing of WAV and MIDI files. Implemented routines for hexmap display and related calculations.
