Responsible for the Bureau’s cooperative programs with the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the U.S. DOL Employment and Training Administration (ETA), and the U.S. Census Bureau. Day-to-day duties include: ensuring compliance with all deliverables under federal-state cooperative agreements, memoranda of understanding, and grant agreements; championing and executing strategic objectives and initiatives in alignment with statewide, department, and bureau mission, vision, and values. Identifies and pursues promising practices to continuously improve Bureau operations and increase value to partners, customers, and residents. Provide coordination with, direction to, and evaluation of subordinate supervisors and sets the tone at the top for the division.

Oversee the collection of Occupational Employment Statistics (OES) surveys from companies in Michigan and insure the timely completion of contract deliverables to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Direct the training and development of the OES staff and promote continuous process improvement for all staff and projects in the Bureau of Labor Market Information & Strategic Initiatives (BLMISI)

Forecast the Michigan's Unemployment Trust Fund Balance, Agency budget, and other economic factors. Create, analyze, and improve Michigan Unemployment Agency's multi-million dollar budget. Work with agency bank contracts involving the Unemployment Trust Fund. Research Economic Indicators. Financial Analysis. Keep current with Unemployment tax laws. Special Projects as assigned.

Cadillac Place, Detroit

Use computer models and statistical methods to produce industry employment estimates for Michigan and its metropolitan areas. Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve data issues. Research, write, and design economic reports, articles, and surveys. Oversee the bureau’s website as project coordinator.

This was a six month internship in which my duties were to research data as assigned and assist in writing publications.
