Being trained as a Mobile Range Operator, operating what was probably one of the busiest mobile ranges in Los Angeles County, it was not uncommon to supervise 30 to 40 sworn personnel during their qualification course of fire.One of my responsibilities was to coordinate and track the Standard Training for Corrections (STC) classes, creating new classes and getting them certified thru the Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) commission, First-Aid / C.P.R. Instructor, overseeing quarterly emergency drills including, but not limited to; Fire, Riot, Hostage, Earthquake, Escape and Evacuations. I taught classes in Less Lethal Weapons, Sting Ball Grenade, Pepper Ball Gun, 40mm Multiple Projectile Gun and TASER weapon, Gas Mask certifications for the sworn line personnel. This included the task of purging training files of personnel assigned to our facility. With a facility of over six hundred and fifty line personnel, this was a never-ending task with the amount of training conducted each month. Show less

During my tenor with the Los Angeles County Police, I finished my patrol training and assigned to several patrol areas throughout the greater Los Angeles Area, when I was then placed in the position of the Operation Officer were I prepared reports and reviewed documents for the Operation Captain.I returned to patrol as a Field Training Officer where I was given the opportunity to train new Police Officers and conduct training classes for the department. This is when I was placed into the Internal Affairs Unit as an Investigator. During this time I experienced a different side of what I thought a police officer is to uphold the law. I handled and assisted in some thirty plus cases. Also while being assigned to this unit I was exposed to some world-class training from various departments, Los Angeles County District Attorneys Office, Los Angeles Office of the Secret Service only to name a few.At this point in my career, I was attached to the Executive Protection Unit / Emergency Response Unit. Also as a Terrorist Liaison Officer (TLO) with resources to Los Angeles-Joint Regional Intelligence Center (JRIC), Recognized Drug Recognition Expert as a court expert in regards to narcotics-related crimes and medical expert as an Emergency Medical Technician. This position was to prepare various locations within the McDonald Douglas Corporation to be able to instruct assigned personnel on how to implement an evacuation plan. Develop Evacuation route maps, and how to contact the proper authorities depending on what type of an emergency situation they might be faced with. In doing so to be able to start first - aid to injured employees or basic fire life safety measure. In April of 1977, is when I started my Fire Fighter career with the California Department of Forestry. These types of operations municipal or wildland are called upon to utilize O.E.S. strike team responses, and being on extended operations was not uncommon and I am very familiar with various operations and to what is expected while being deployed during those events.A large portion of my experience was also compiled during wildland firefighting and command post operations.
