Sr. Oq Analyst
Corporate Trainer & Developer – Natural Gas Operations
DDS provides comprehensive, turn-key services to the utility, pipeline, civil engineering, and telecommunications industries throughout New England and the Mid-Atlantic states. Our client list includes National Grid, AVANGRID, and National Fuel Gas.My role with the company is to develop and deliver training to new hires and current employees and maintain updated training records for 500-600 employees across New York State and other jurisdictions.I have created numerous training aids, including PowerPoint slides and worksite videos that have been incorporated into employee training. This includes recording and editing several training videos.I championed an initiative to update employee Operator Qualifications (OQs) in anticipation of regulatory changes within the industry. This ultimately gave us a competitive edge when new requirements were implemented. In order to be qualified to deliver training to our people, I have been required to complete multiple certifications from Northeast Gas Association (NGA) for skills related to installation and maintenance of natural gas pipeline equipment.I have also created and streamlined our record keeping system for gas progression employees, and currently maintain multiple employee Learning Management Systems (LMS), including IndustrySafe, OnBoard, and UDig NY. These databases allow us to continuously update employee certifications and qualifications, as needed. In addition, I confer regularly with compliance personnel at our customer utility firms to develop improved training materials and installation processes, as well as monitoring regulatory changes for gas industry employees. The QA / QC processes I have developed have improved our compliance and quality outcomes.I also provide input on employee evaluation and compensation strategies that help DDS maintain and retain a quality workforce.
Executive Principal
In this capacity, I was, in effect, the COO of an operation that served 1,500+ students. As such I supervised 120 teaching professionals and 30 support staff members and administered a ~$12M annual operating budget.During my time there, I was able to establish and promote a workplace culture that significantly improved staff morale. This resulted in a more positive learning environment for students that enhanced their educational experience. When we were presented with the challenge created by the Covid-19 pandemic, we were able to devise an instructional schedule and operating plan that accommodated the shift to virtual instruction without adversely impacting student performance. I also led a project that studied facilities usage for two school buildings. One of the facilities was overcrowded, while the other was underutilized. By realigning the student populations attending each school, we were able to balance the number of students served by each facility. As the executive leader of the high school, when there were escalated issues and concerns from students or their parents, I became involved in resolving any complaints, including addressing disciplinary actions, as appropriate. It was also part of my job to conduct periodic reviews of building security and site safety procedures.During my time in this role, we exceeded expectations for budget performance, consistently maintaining operations under budget.
Secondary School Principal
In this rural district with 300 students in grades 6-12, I supervised a 50-member team of faculty and staff and developed and administered an $8M annual operating budget.I promoted personalized learning initiatives that addressed students’ individual needs, which boosted student morale and improved performance. An extension of this approach was advocating for a student requiring a special accommodation for taking the SAT exams to ensure that the student was given the opportunity to perform to her potential. By championing an alternative program for at-risk students, we substantially improved graduation rates.Because we were such a small school district, I reached out to a neighboring district in order to partner in providing more staff development opportunities. In order to provide a more equitable approach to funding the annual senior trip parameters, I established standardized pricing that allowed families to anticipate and plan for the expense. Other noteworthy accomplishments included:• Realizing substantial savings by consolidating Middle School and High School budgets.• Implementing new digital methods for recruiting and hiring faculty and staff.• Establishing a Varsity Cross-Country team and serving as its first coach.
Assistant Principal - Fairport High School
As the Assistant Principal, I supported the Principal by managing various student and parent relations issues for a student population of 1,600. This included serving as the chairperson of the committee charged with reviewing instructional plans for students with special learning needs. I also supervised and evaluated the performance of support staff members, including hall monitors and cafeteria monitors, and was a key participant in labor relations activities. I co-chaired the district-wide safety team that reviewed site safety and building security. We developed policies and procedures for dealing with students expressing desire to harm themselves or others. In addition, we recommended additional signage in school buildings that improved the ability to navigate the facility during an emergency. I worked closely with IT professionals and an outside vendor to evaluate and recommend modifications to specialized software (Spectrum K-12) that was essential to maintaining records for special needs students.
