Delta Launch Systems – Delta family of launch vehicles used by NASA and USAF to place satellites in space.Leadership of a team of 10 software engineers who developed and enhanced a variety of applications which comprised the ground launch and control system of the Delta IV and Delta II Rocket Launch Vehicles. • Applications included: high availability client-server database application for monitoring and control on multi-processor UNIX and Windows servers, embedded safety critical launch control applications, and a real time launch control system simulations application.• Performed technical and project management, managed schedules to meet launch dates and budgets.• Streamlined the software development and QA test processes while insuring ISO and CMMI compatibility • Led conversion to IBMs ClearCase source control and ClearQuest change management tools.

A leader in Solid State Disk (SSD) and File Caching products for SAN and enterprise data storage.Responsibilities included direct management of software and hardware engineering activities, including hands-on leadership of development, project management, process improvement and corporate strategic product planning. Staff included software, hardware, and DVT engineers.• Primary project was the development of an enterprise level Storage Resource Management application providing a variety of SAN management functions through real-time monitoring and data collection. This product was designed utilizing OOD, C++, UML to run on Solaris and Windows servers. • Led development of a new generation SSD Storage devices. This real-time OOD firmware design utilized PowerPC 440XP, VxWorks, UML, C/C++. • Led software requirement specification, architecture, and design meetings. • Oversaw the evaluation and adoption of new technologies.• Performed all project management; creating project plans, schedules, and budgets. • Championed the use of OOD, UML and in software design and development.

A startup developing RAID products based on FibreSlice, a system on a chip, multi processor RAID controller chipset with embedded Fibre Channel interfaces.Responsible for direct leadership of two software projects, all project management, establishing and managing the development processes. Software department consisted of two team leads and 15 engineers.• The first project encompassed the high level RAID set configuration, and management functionality. This software was an OOD C++ design utilizing Rational Rose UML and ran on real time Linux. The second effort encompassed the RAID controller interface, device error handling, the Fibre Channel, and SCSI protocols. • Led the software architecture, and detail design, worked closely with the LSI design team for several months developing the architecture, partitioning functionality and designing interfaces. • Established phased software development process and setup code management system.• Spearheaded the adoption of OOD, C++, and UML in software design and coding.• Developed project design documentation, project plans, schedules and budget. • Hired 7 new engineers.

The industry leader in providing pre-boot firmware (BIOS) and system software for PC platforms.Responsible for development and project management of branded Windows applications. Department consisted of two managers and 10 engineers with one team in Irvine and one in San Jose. Projects included:• BIOS Developers Studio – A Windows based BIOS Firmware Development Environment modeled on Visual Studio that used a database to track component dependencies, and automate configuration and build of the BIOS image. Consulted with OEM customers on requirements and made product presentations. Led this two year development from inception to first customer shipment.• System Management Applications – Developed and shipped several Phoenix branded Windows applications including; a BIOS upgrade, power management, and battery management for laptop systems. • All development was OOD in C++ using Visual Studio, MFC, and COM/DCOM. • Participated in cross functional review and improvement of development and code management system.
