Wayne Edwards is a multi-award award winning production leader with extensive experience in Multi-media Production. Wayne began his career as a PA at ESPN then elevating to a Producer leading the live productions of professional, collegiate, and amateur sport events. In addition, he developed multi-platform content, functioned as Feature Producer, and aided in the training and development of many on-air personalities. Wayne won a Sports Emmy for his producing role in ESPN’s groundbreaking coverage of the 2010 FIFA World Cup. The NAMIC Vision and New York Festivals Gold awards soon followed.As Director of Production and Programming for Back9Network, a golf lifestyle channel, Wayne was one of the leaders responsible for its launch on DirecTV to 20 million homes. He coordinated the overall look and content vision of studio shows and aided in the acquisition of third-party content. Wayne managed the day-to-day production and operation of broadcast personnel, on-air talent, plus the Features and Post-Production departments. Currently, Wayne is a Distinguished Lecturer at the University of New Haven teaching digital media, content production, broadcasting, and convergent journalism. Students under his advisement have won multiple New England Regional Emmy awards. Wayne continues to evolve the curriculum by collaborating with local organizations for student practicums. He's implemented a Sport Communication minor and authored the following courses: Race, Gender, and Class in the Media, Electronic News Gathering and Reporting, and Sports Production. While teaching, Wayne’s leadership in production continued at New England Public Media where he helped launch the company’s first public affairs radio show “And Another Thing” in a remote setting. Upon the completion of that project, he moved to Connecticut Public Broadcasting where he functioned as Coordinating Producer to the original artist docu-series “Where Art Thou?” and “Cutline In The Community”, a town-hall type broadcast covering local public affairs affecting the state. He finished his tenure as Producer to "Disrupted", a weekly radio and podcast program.
