As Engineering Manager I had responsibility for all warehouse electric lift truck product continuing engineering support and special customer request projects. I focused on improving the quality of our products and in so doing improving the customer experience in order to realize a reduction in warranty. I provided guidance and mentoring to my group to establish a reporting method and rapid response focused teams for components that exhibited a trend for premature failure. The team developed a warranty dashboard to track the top 10 components by failures and the plans to contain and corrective actions necessary to resolve the failures. In 2005 Workhorse Custom Chassis was purchased by Navistar, during the transition I was appointed as the project leader for the hybrid electric diesel truck project. I was to lead and co-ordinate the project through all phases of the design and delivery of hybrid electric diesel package delivery trucks for a prominent package delivery customer. Using PMI project management principles the project schedule and budget tracking and reporting was managed by me. Upon completion of the validation and design approval, my focus turned to establishing the manufacturing plant and setting up a team with equipment to build the trucks for our customer. I was to lead the project responsible for staffing, equipping, inventory control, quality and manufacture of the first production run of the hybrid electric diesel trucks.Accomplishments include• Planned and executed the project plan for designing the hybrid electric diesel package truck utilizing PMI methodology and managing resources in remote and global locations• Planned and executed the project plan to manufacture hybrid electric diesel trucks • Established a bill of material system for inventory control• Maintained and reported the project schedule and budget• Delivered the project a week early and within budget

In 2000 I joined General Motors (GM)as a design engineer, GM sold their trucking division to Workhorse Custom Chassis, a United States company based in Dayton, OH. I relocated with my family to the area in the position as a design engineer for fuel systems and emissions controls. My time was spent designing, verifying and certifying fuel systems delivery and containment for the 2004 CARB and EPA emissions requirements. Designing and benchmarking components that would reduce the release of hydrocarbons from the gasoline fuel tanks and fuel rails on internal combustion engines. Integrating fuel systems for both diesel and gasoline internal combustion engines into heavy truck applications and validating the system in conformance with the FMVSS standards.Accomplishments include• Designed, validated and certified a returnless in tank fuel pump and filter component for gasoline application• Designed, validated and certified a fuel tank venting system to reduce the release of hydrocarbon emissions• Designed, validated and certified evaporative canisters and evaporative emission control protocol• Designed fuel lines and fuel rail for returnless fuel system• Designed a rectangular in frame exhaust system for low floor ladder frame chassis trucks, received a patent for the design

I was constantly challenged in the engine development arena for Volkswagen and worked exclusively on fuel system and evaporative emission containment system designs. I was focused on modeling flow, tank slosh and determining system pressures for both low pressure and high pressure fuel delivery systems. I was responsible for the fuel tank design on passenger vehicles, including design for safety, manufacturability and assembly. All designs had to comply with the ISO/DIN standards for motor vehicle safety and performance. I was exposed to the design methodology and design review and release processes, which provide a rigid structure for learning and expanding my knowledge in engineering design.Accomplishments include• Designed, validated and certified the fuel system for the 1.6l fuel injected 4 cylinder passenger vehicle• Improved an existing fuel pump design for a low pressure carburetor engine• Established a procedure for validating hot fuel handling of the fuel system for small displacement gasoline engines• Designed a fuel tank for the higher fill demands while containing the additional fuel vapor while dispensing• Designed a fuel tank venting system with increased air flow to reduce back pressure in the fuel tank and vapor lock• Developed an internal fuel tank baffle system to prevent fuel starvation under high speed cornering
