Researched the synthesis and utilization of novel "Photometric Bases" as tunable probes for the spectroscopic investigation of rapid proton transfer chemistry and the hydride-formation chemistry of a family of cobalt complexes using electrochemical methods.

Critically evaluated the feasibility of scaling up cutting edge catalytic systems for the reduction of carbon dioxide. Investigated a series of potential niches and produced performance targets that must be met to render the CCS technology competitive with established ones.

IREU Fellowship administered by the American Chemical Society.Research on covalently-linked POM-photosensitizer dyads for light-driven hydrogen evolution. Synthesized and characterized a family of covalently linked polyoxometalate-iridium photosensitizer compounds then quantitatively evaluated their effectiveness as photocatalysts for hydrogen evolution in the presence of acid and a sacrificial reductant.
