URS is providing D4 (deactivation, decommissioning, decontamination and demolition) services under a Task Order to the Department of Energy (DOE). The SPRU DP project is located at the Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory (KAPL), a research and development facility dedicated to support of the United States Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program. The SPRU facilities were constructed and operated during the cold war to research plutonium and uranium separation processes from irradiated fuel. Responsible for Project Integration and Support. The estimated cost at completion is approximately $325M

Washington Closure Hanford (WCH) is the prime contractor for environmental restoration at the Department of Energy Hanford site. WCH is responsible for cleaning up waste sites at Hanford, decontaminating and decommissioning former plutonium production nuclear reactors and surplus facilities, and disposing of contaminated waste. Responsible for the planning, technology development and operations start-up at two of Hanford’s most challenging remediation projects, the 618-10 and 618-11 burial ground. Some of the most hazardous wastes on the Hanford Site were disposed at these burial grounds. Additional the 618-11 BG is located adjacent to the Columbia Generating Station, a commercial nuclear power plant. Estimate at completion is in excess of $300M.
