As a senior spatial analyst at Queensland Police Service I was responsible for managing spatial data related to prosecutions, drawing together spatiotemporal correlations with occurrences in the wider brief of evidence to provide evidentiary support of actions and intent.This work was made mode interesting by having the latitude to become involved in business and research improvement projects such as introducing the notion of using space-time-cube data to find statistically important increases in crime trends in areas, and then putting this process into a managed automation that could produce this data for regional commands regularly.This role required flexibility to develop new processes and skills, the knowledge to know what would work and what would not, and the aptitude to explore and create difficult to refute answers using available data in a scenario where that data would be repeatedly tested in a public forum by expert witnesses.This role required both strong attention to detail, but a high degree of flexibility and mental acuity.

As a senior geologist with Xplore I was responsible for starting and managing a hybrid Greenfield's / Brownfields exploration campaign at Rolleston, at the edge of the Bowen Basin and Dennison Trough in Central QLD.The program was redefined early on by my work interpreting data collected during a 1970s oil exploration program, using modern data analysis tools such as OpenDTect, ArcGIS, and samples from their in-house geology database to plot seismic lines capture on tape based media, tying the lithological units to sample bore holes and surface-observable data at points of intersection.This work when combined with the rapid onboarding to Rolleston mine, building of relationships, and demonstration of early data driven results permitted me to demonstrate to the client that the me and my team, as a group of consulting geologists, were not just skilled in sampling from a drill rig, but had the local and resource knowledge and skill sets to provide them exceptional value, target their resources and to also isolate lease sub-blocks that were likely to be devoid of resources, simultaneously increasing measured and inferred resource whilst giving them an avenue to decrease rental payments on sub-blocks within their exploration permit area.The project had a team of about 8 geologists that reported to me, along with drilling and geophysics contractors.Data was value added and communicated using 3d analysis and modelling by myself on client systems, highlighting probable target areas for exploration and high value adds.Additional on-the-ground field mapping of exposed units was conducted during delays caused by other contractor equipment onboarding to validate the findings from seismic and to establish a base set of lithological horizons that could be used to infer resource location.

As a senior geologist consulting with Xenith I used my detailed knowledge of Bowen Basin Geology to deliver data driven insights for resource resource delineation.With a keen attention to detail I delivered the initial stages of a mine site drilling campaign for BHPs Peak Downs mine in Central QLD.This campaign required people management and project management skills, combined with deep experience of Queensland coal mine operations, particularly in the Bowen Basin, to ensure a seamless and well planned start to drilling, minimising downtime and ensuring drilling and data capture was able to occur as early as possible in the campaign, reserving campaign funds for resource discovery and alleviating overhead costs.

As an analyst with the Electoral Commission of Queensland I worked during my off-roster time in resources, turning my analytical skills and experience in applied spatial sciences to the redistributing of Queenslands electoral boundaries.This position required basic statistical knowledge in GIS combined with and eye for detail to deliver accurate and robust results.This role was effectively a short term contract role negotiated to fill my down time, and a small capability and capacity gap which ECQ needed to overcome for timely delivery.

Simons time spent working as a graduate in a geotechnical engineering capacity was designed to complement his masters studies in geomechanics at UNSW. During this time Simon worked under the direct supervision of the principal geotechnical engineer and worked on major projects at both open cut and underground sites.Selected Accomplishments:  Has provided geotechnical advice to 6 Peabody open cut mines including structural analysis integrating expressions of structure from the highwall and geological model Complex block size and structural analysis of mine site highwall in support of both mining and legal undertakings Build site confidence of photogrammetry acquisition and analysis, with regular pickups and results being delivered to mine sites allowing structural updates of short term geological models and in selected cases characterisation of tertiary and channel infill relevant to mining operations.Key Contributions:  Provide timely and accurate advice to mining with regards to geotechnical requirements related to structure, cut design, and wall stability.  Update short term mining models with structural analysis Create and distribute accurate and timely reports to key stakeholders Slope stability design, analysis, and remediation planning Geological and Geomorphological hazard identification Gathering and interpretations of remotely sensed data, eg photogrammetry, LIDAR

Selected Accomplishments:  Successful completion of a 200+ hole drilling program as both a program and contract manager. Program delivered within safety expectations including zero LTI’s and zero reportable incidents. Encouraged reporting of all incidents no matter how minor; exploration team successfully on boarded and actively pursued several minor incidents to completion with overall positive outcomes.  Successful prediction of in pit faulting, and geotechnical implications.Key Contributions:  Contactor and safety management of forward of mining exploration teams including three drill rigs, two logging units and a varying number of contact geologists. Review and revise field data capture, integrate in to existing geological database, prepare for modelling. Short term mining model production and review incorporating in pit daata. Provide direction to operators and production staff Liaise closely with engineering to produce accurate and realistic models of resource Regular in pit geotechnical inspections and reviews. Reporting to engineers, production, management and implementation of TARPs. Engage key stakeholders to supply advice/recommendations where situation was beyond my experience.  Reconciliation of ROM quality based on geological model and/or XPAC schedule. Where discrepancies exist, discover why and provide advice for next block/strip. Ensure drill and blast was supplied with latest variations in geological model and updated fault information. Construct sampling instructions for exploration core based on a hybrid of a theoretically correct and practically possible methodology to gain the best results for thin seam mining operations with current plant configuration. Ensure results are statistically accurate on their return.  Collect, send and order in pit channel samples, allocate current coaling operations to specific ROM stockpiles pending analysis results. Raise purchase orders, reconcile invoices.

As a manger at Officeworks Superstores I was responsible for the data to day operations of the Punchbowl store.During a period of management transition lasting over 12 months I was the store manager, with substantive reports including the customer service team, print and copy, and technology teams.I was responsible for the stores operating budget, remuneration spend, extraordinary orders, and HR activities including employee performance and development reviews.In order to relieve a number of stock related issues within the store I instituted a zero-fill receiving dock policy for weekend teams, leveraging the stores traditional quieter times, particularly on Saturdays during period of regular rates, to staff up and move stock.The net result was an overall reduction in stock loss and wastage, a higher shelf fill, and significantly lower stock variances at the following stocktake.
