University Housing & Dining

Provide oversight to all residence hall operations and staffing within Residence Education, which includes 10 residence halls. Coordinate large scale logistics and projects such as residence hall move-in, front desk operations, summer operations, and university break operations. Coordinate staffing, which includes recruitment and hiring for all student staff positions, graduate student interns, and full-time staff members. Provide oversight and direction to student conduct and care processes as well. Manage multiple on-campus partnerships and partnerships within University Housing & Dining. • Train, supervise, and evaluate masters-level mid-level professional staff; up to three Assistant Directors • Oversee hall operations for ten residence halls, up to 6,500 students • Address crisis situations, connect with students of concern and communicate follow up information to appropriate campus resources • Serve as 24-hour on call, rotating administrative team member providing support to professional on-call staff responding to issues for the entire residential community of 6,500 students• Create and implement recruitment plans for hiring for Residence Education for both full time and student staff • Provide oversight to the conduct and care processes within Residence Education • Serve as liaison to the Dean of Students office, which includes the Office of Student Accountability

University Housing & Dining - Residence Education

o Train, supervise, and evaluate masters-level professional staff; three Hall Coordinators and one Coordinator for Residence Education Leadership o Assist in management of three residence halls, 1,700 residents, including facilities and judicial process o Serve as the Residence Education Advisor for Homecoming Council o Provide administrative oversight of Residence Hall Move-In and Residence Hall Move-Out processes and coordinate operations with University of Iowa Department of Public Safety, On Iowa! program, CAMBUS, move-in volunteers, and other various campus partners o Facilitate monthly operations meeting with various UH&D Staff to coordinate hall procedures and increase communication among UH&D departments o Execute recruitment and selection of masters level Hall Coordinator staff with a focus on recruitment of staff of color and providing an on-campus interview experience that provides support to the candidate o Develop Residence Hall Desk Operations and facilitate professional Secretarial Staff Meetings o Coordinate summer Residence Education operations for Camps and Conferences program o Direct student staff recruitment and selection initiatives and support RA Selection committee

•Provide oversight to RA Selection, RA Training, and RA Class committees•Coordinate early intervention efforts for Residence Education and sever as the department representative on the Early Intervention Team and Excelling@Iowa Leadership Team •Plan and implement presentations and trainings for Admissions and Orientation•Responsible for several budgets which include Residence Hall Tutoring, Student Success Coaches, RA Selection, and RA Training •Supervise and evaluate four full-time, masters level professionals

•Facilitate a three semester hour course, with 25 students in the class •Use The Student Leadership Challenge model to guide coursework•Encourage students to think globally in regards to leadership and coordinate a service-learning project

Hillcrest Hall
