After six years of doctoral study at Michigan State University in the United States, I recently have returned to my home country China and launched my career as an Assistant Professor of Teacher Education at Beijing Normal University.My research focuses on the intersection of teacher policy and teacher workforce reform situated in global contexts. In the past ten years, I have investigated a range of policy issues related to teachers—their preparation, recruitment, distribution, classroom teaching, and professional development. In studying teacher policy, I have drawn on multiple disciplinary perspectives (e.g., economic, sociological, and cognitive approaches) in different research projects. As a bilingual writer, my work has appeared, or soon will appear, in a variety of publishing outlets, including peer-reviewed journals: International Journal of Educational Research, Education Policy Analysis Archives, TESOL Quarterly, Journal of Education for Teaching, The Asia-Pacific Education Researcher, Journal of Comparative and International Education (比较教育研究), Studies in Foreign Education (外国教育研究), and Teacher’s Journal (中国教师); and book chapters published by Johns Hopkins University Press, and Beijing Normal University Press.I also served as reviewer for peer-reviewed journals, including: The Asia-Pacific Education Researcher, Issues in Teacher Education, and Frontiers of Education in China; and annual conferences of several educational research associations, including American Educational Research Association (AERA), Comparative and International Education Society (CIES), and World Association of Lesson Study (WALS).
