I have a profound respect for financial professionals, and I am aware of how it takes hard work to be an excellent financial analyst. During my studies at the University of Arizona, I worked hard to build a solid foundation and applied my knowledge to solve real problems during many team projects. I gained experience of thoroughly understanding financial statements when our team worked together to compare the financial situation and the development trends between Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts. In addition, I grasped the ability to analyze and predict a company’s future growth based on historical financial data in another team project where I analyzed the financial situation of Wabash National (WNC). The analytical process consisted of performing ratio and industry analysis, analyzing its capital structure and debt issues, and evaluating the risk profile of WNC.Besides on-campus study, I actively engaged in practicing my knowledge in the real world by finishing four internships in four years. While working, I gained the ability to effectively communicate with co-workers and customers and tackle new and complex problems. These effective business communication skills include: (1) the ability to clearly present missions and strategies to management in a time-saving way; and (2) the techniques to win customers’ trust by providing a comprehensive approach, which contains detecting potential risks, validating possible solutions and finding the best plans. During my internships, I quickly found that insufficient communication could slow down the company’s normal operations and increase unnecessary costs in the business. These findings further confirm my determination to go to graduate school to study more core theories in finance and widen my visions of global business markets.
