About Wendy Burch

I am interested in combining my experience from nursing, teaching and performing. Nursing and other industries share many of the same skills. Care of a patient throughout the healing process is analogous to managing a short term project. My assignments as a hospital nurse required me often manage up to 8 patients/projects at a time. The assignments required assessments, documentation, planning, implementation and evaluation (A.D.P.I.E.) on a hourly or by minute basis. I documented interactions with patients, doctors and other members of the healthcare team. Delegating to nursing assistants is part of my duties. Additionally, management and coordination of the patient care is my responsibility. These “projects” are dynamic and change quickly. I am attending meetings of the PMI-Baltimore chapter, and my goal is to take the PMP exam as soon as I am eligible. I have been a registered nurse for the last 20+ years. During that time I have had a wide variety of experiences. I have worked primarily in Women’s services, and the operating room. I have both chaired and served on committees to plan, develop, initiate and evaluate policies and procedures for nursing care. These policies direct nursing care to be compassionate, evidence based, efficient in time and cost effective. During this time, I took on charge nurse and mentoring responsibilities. Working in hospitals with either a team based approach or an individual approach to care. Working as a CPR instructor, I learned a great deal about customer service. These skills then helped me run my own children’s entertainment company. I enjoy public speaking and doing presentations. I am currently PTO president.All of these skills put together have prepared me for the next challenge.
