I support our donors, volunteers, and Alumni in New York to create meaningful engagement within the Greenhouse Scholars programming. Our community equips young leaders from low-income communities to make a difference in the world through professional and financial support. The New York Greenhouse community ensures that people of all backgrounds can live a life of their choosing. I am in an especially unique and privileged position as an Alum of the program. Greenhouse did indeed provide me the tools to create a life of my choosing, not dedicated by my circumstances. I am immensely proud that I get to provide that to up and coming changemakers through the power of community.Impact and Responsibilities:- Fundraise with individual and corporate donors I steward individual engagement with Greenhouse Scholars and leverage networks to expand the Greenhouse Scholars giving and volunteer community while developing custom fundraising and engagement proposals that align with corporate funder’s goals and strategies and result in long-term relationships. - Build New York network of leaders (250+ community members) I volunteered my time to help launch our community in 2021 and joined full time in 2022 to continue expansion. - Recruit high-impact advisory Board Members- Attract and engage 100+ volunteers annually to support local programming and coordinate events that provide a seamless and impactful experience to volunteers.- Plan and execute intimate fundraising events (150+ donors)I also work closely with in-house marketing team on event and fundraising collateral- Collaborate with programming team to develop and execute programs that meet the unique needs of the local communities and 8 Scholars. - Utilize CRM data and dashboards to ensure consistent annual giving from individuals and organizations and identify opportunities to deepen relationships.- Create and manage annual 6 figure budgets

I worked directly with the Director of Disability and Education Policy to set the policy agenda for the organization. In conjunction with our Executive Director, I curated materials to summarize the current political landscape of special education in New York City. I collaborated on meetings with elected officials and community organizations and fostered partnerships at the city and state level. As a communications associate, I streamlined messaging in all social media accounts. Each week, I set the social media calendar for English and Spanish platforms and engaged within education policy spheres. We distilled NYC DOE policy and made posts accessible to parents and youth. I worked closely with our graphic designer to design cohesive images that are inclusive and representative of our values. I led the creation of a weekly Spanish newsletter that goes out to 1,000+ subscribers. The newsletter gathered important special education articles, events, and resources consistent with our messaging and policy agenda. I also assisted in pulling information for our English newsletter with over 24,000+ subscribers. I served as a bilingual liaison between departments and partook in professional development that explored accessibility with the Spanish speaking community.

Greater New York City Area

I was a Public Policy fellow working at The Office of the Bronx Borough President. I was tasked to curate policy reports on education issues through extensive data analysis and research; focusing on special education and non-traditional student populations. I advised general policy whenever education is a key component of the report. I was the Project Manager of a borough-wide career fair, connecting current high school students to professional liaisons. I set up meetings with key Bronx organizations like Here to Here, Montefiore, and CUNY partners such as Lehman College. I created all agendas and ran our Planning Committee meetings of 10+ members. I organized all logistical forms for the event, create participant materials, and do registration intake. I assisted in the coordination of the New York State Education Department Regional Stakeholder Meeting on Graduation Requirements for Chancellor Betty A. Rosa in coordination with the 12th Judicial District staff and NYC Department of Education. I helped organize all participant registration, materials, and out reach. We anticipated participation of 200+ education stakeholders including students.I worked closely with the Director of Policy and the Director of Education to research and create memos that inform the Bronx Borough President and the Chief of Staff on public facing communication. Part of my position was to continuously hold stakeholder meetings with Panel for Educational Policy representatives, Bronx non-profits, and New York City parents and students to glean public perspective on the current NY education landscape.I curated social media posts to inform Bronx constituents about available resources in their community.

Greater New York City Area

I was a tenured middle school teacher working under a Special Education and General Education license. I taught in a bilingual (Spanish/English) ELA Integrated Co-teaching settings instructing students with disabilities who have Individualized Eduction Plans and students who are labeled as English Language Learners (ELLs). Close to one-third of my school's populations had a disability, 23% were ELLs (both higher than the city average), our school was a designated Title 1 school, with more than 90% of our student population qualifying for free and reduced lunch. I was our school's elected United Federation of Teachers (UFT) Chapter Leader (elected in 2017). In this role I made sure contractional agreements were being upheld including operational issues, teacher development, school safety, and programming. I worked closely with our principal to resolve and arbitrate issues, assess our budget, and create healthy relationships with the district's union representative and Superintendent. I assisted new teachers in their mentoring process and guided veteran teachers in their tenure applications. I was also a facilitator of the Collaborative Action Research Project, where I managed a group of five teachers to research, implement, and create dual language programming. I attended monthly professional development to guide our growth as a team.I was the UFT chair in our school's Leadership Team (SLT) where we discussed the school budget, parent concerns, and Comprehensive Educational Plans (CEP) goals. I was also the founder of our school's Astronomy Club that partners with Columbia University, Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum, and the American Museum of Natural History.

Greater New York City Area

In this role I was a teacher in an Integrated Co-teaching setting instructing in all content areas including math, ELA, science, and social studies (social studies is fully taught in Spanish). I collaborated with 3 to 6 teachers at a time to coordinate accessible lesson plans, review materials, auditory access points, and varied instruction models. I was in charge of all 6th grade students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in integrated co-teaching settings, as well as those needing pull out services. I assisted in the creation of IEPs, parent meetings, connecting related services with counselors, speech teachers, and psychologists. I made sure that legally mandated accommodations were being administered. I monitored students through Response to Intervention techniques and referred students for IEPs.I also assisted in the development of English Language Leaner's courses and materials in order and ensured compliance with city mandates. Managed NYSESLAT prep and administered testing. Teach for American Corps Member from 2013-2015, engaging in teacher development workshops, creating networks with teaching professionals in all 5 boroughs.

I was selected to be part of a 30+ group of former or current educators of color to research a capstone equity project. We attended two national workshops where we identified institutional and systemic barriers in the educational and professional world.My team of six curated a directive letter for Atlanta Public Schools to guide their interactions with Immigration and Customs Enforcement. We presented this letter and other resources to top level Atlanta officials and urged them to follow suit behind New York City and Los Angeles to protect and ensure the safety of students regardless of their immigrant status. My role in the team was of facilitator, where I managed our project timeline, held teammates accountable to deadlines, consolidated communication in spreadsheets and running logs.

Greater Chicago Area

I was selected from hundreds of applicants to be a fellow in the National Endowment for the Humanities Summer Seminar at the world renowned independent research Newberry Library in Chicago.The seminar "Reading Maps in the Material Age" ran by Dr. James Akerman and Dr. Peter Nekola, consisted of a group of 20 current Department of Education employees attending daily lectures, weekly cultural trips in the surrounding Chicago area and employing independent research. My research concentrated in the African American experience during the Great Depression with a specific look at black orphans and union workers. The research was used to create curriculum for the 2018-2019 school year.

Denver, Colorado

I worked with the Colorado Children's Campaign in the summer of 2016 dissecting the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), primarily the new non-academic indicator component for policy recommendations. We worked closely with Denver Public Schools, A+ Colorado, Charter networks, and other community-based organizations to write a public notice letter for policy improvements to Colorado's ESSA recommendations. I worked closely with the Vice President of K-12 Education Initiatives and the Vice President of Health Initiatives in developing policy briefs used to inform lobbying decisions. In addition, I researched and created memos about school integrations, Gifted and Talented Programs, chronic absenteeism, and State Exam opt out trends. I guided research that helped propel new health initiatives for undocumented youth.I developed and wrote health articles about immunization rates and social determinants of health published in a KidsFlash Blog read by over 200,000 subscribers (articles can be found above). I wrote reports that assisted conversations had with Denver health partners including The Colorado Trust. Additionally, I curated questions used in the hiring process for and interviewed the company’s new CEO.

Worked at a non-profit helping teenage mothers with post-secondary plans and parenting skills, compiled data to analyze current and future programs of the organization, assisted the Director of Strategic Planning with projects related to human resources, grants, Spanish translations, long term strategic planning, and overall program management. I also collected and input data that I then presented to program directors and the President of the organization, to improve current programs and bolster the strategic plan.
