Wendy Phelps is the System Director of Physician and Provider Relations for Bon Secours Mercy Health. Bon Secours Mercy Health (BSMH) serves as one of the largest catholic health systems in the U.S. and is the largest not-for-profit private provider in Ireland.Wendy joined BSMH in 2007 and has served as a market leader for business development, strategy, planning, population health, and service line integration. In July of 2021, Wendy left population health to join the system strategy division, partnering with physician, system, and market leaders to design and implement a standardized Physician and Provider Relations model. The team includes relationship managers embedded across 10 U.S. markets who collectively conduct more than four thousand face-to-face visits each month with physicians practicing medicine in our communities. These intentional conversations have resulted in resolution of more than six thousand barriers a year and improved in-network utilization in every market.Wendy is a resolute and experienced healthcare leader bringing expertise in growth, value, population health, sales leadership, and provider relations. She leads the sales team across half of a 12-billion-dollar health care system covering multiple markets and states. She is an organized and driven leader with experience in key industries, including health care, banking, and retail, and brings with her to the ministry 20 years of multi-level leader experience. She is a goal-focused individual and an accomplished leader with proven results championing the growth and success of her teams.In her current role, Wendy ensures the physician’s voice is integrated across the spectrum of strategy, clinical operations, and business operations. The Physician and Provider Relations team is embraced by community physicians who give credit to BSMH market leaders for creating a responsive culture where the voice of the physician is a making a difference.
