Currently serving as national director of communications of Cru's division for Latino students. This exploding population of young men and women are bilingual and multicultural; they truly are the leaders of tomorrow. I lead communication and marketing of our mission, message(s), brand and logo, revision of our Web presence, and supporting leadership and internal communications. Our audiences include students, parents and pastors, as well as our own staff members, leaders and financial supporters.My experience includes strategic planning and developing communications plans (local and national), crisis management and communications, event planning including content, fund development and donor appreciation, volunteer recruiting and management, juggling multiple projects and raising my own salary.

After years of national communications experience, my personal life changed to include a husband and stepson. I had the opportunity to focus on supporting the new president of our organization, after having developed the succession communications.My responsibilities included preparing quarterly President's Reports for the Board of Directors, sifting through global stories to find those best supporting the mission and values of the organization. I am adept at editing and fitting a story to a particular audience; I love to write and edit, so this job was a joy.

This was an opportunity to serve hands-on in a local setting, learning first-hand what our staff members on small teams face in building compassionate ministry. Projects included food and school supplies distribution, service projects for college students, business partnerships and teen mentoring. In each of these, I was continually drawn back to personal strength of communicating well. News updates, specific direction for volunteers and students, strategic planning, fund appeals, documenting progress...most I had done nationally, now was doing locally. I learned more about my city of Orlando, who's who there, and the strengths and challenges of a small team, in those six years than I had in my previous 15 simply "based" there, traveling nationally. It would be like stepping from a large hospital administration role to work in the ER or a doctor's office...my observations, experiences, challenges and lessons have been invaluable.

Served on U.S. Executive Team to give leadership to 5,000+ staff members. My strategic thinking and ability to weave mission, vision and values into all levels of the organization were some of my greatest contributions. In addition, I was involved in leadership development (content and vehicle), staff alignment through overseeing Executive Director's communications plan and implementing culture change, crisis management and communications. Also developed and led succession communications plan from founder president to new president to include internal communications, public/media relations and donor communication.
