Wendy has enjoyed a 30-year academic career in Australia, marked by strong contributions in both teaching and research. She has developed and delivered a wide range of undergraduate courses in biology and ecology, and played a leading role in international study tours.As a researcher, Wendy’s work in conservation biology has shaped evidence-based environmental policies in Australia and abroad. She has collaborated with the Victorian State Government to investigate the impacts of fire and harvesting on wildlife in public forests. Her Australian research addresses ecological disturbances on key species, including the Strzelecki Gum, Sallow Wattle, Koala, and Sambar Deer.Wendy’s international collaborations span China, Indonesia, and Nepal. Her projects include studying the biodiversity of reconstructed forests in Sichuan, China, examining the conservation role of Rattan agroforestry in Indonesia, and addressing human-wildlife conflict in Nepal. In Nepal, she also contributes to wildlife guide training and explores the roles of women in forestry governance.Since 2021, Wendy has served as the Dean of Graduate Research at Federation University, where she leads initiatives that support transformative research training and the development of future researchers. Wendy’s interdisciplinary research reflects a commitment to wildlife conservation, disturbance ecology, and the integration of traditional ecological knowledge across diverse landscapes.
