Ever since I was young, I wanted to pursue a career in electrical engineering or IT as I am avid of new and upcoming technologies.When I left the sixth form, I had a choice of following a career in ethical hacking at university or start to an apprenticeship in electrical engineering. I spent quite a bit of my free time on the computer, playing games and browsing the web so I didn't want to turn my hobby into a job. After much research into future opportunities, I decided that a career in electrical engineering was the right choice. I started my apprenticeship in late 2011 and passed with the highest grade possible.At present, I work for a company named 'Process Instruments'. Here, I spent 4 years as a manufacturing technician, I regularly work back in the manufacturing department to keep my knowledge of the equipment up to date. My responsibilities as a technician include building, testing, calibrating and repairing the equipment we provide.Once my apprenticeship finished, I moved into the service department and focused more on repairing equipment and providing customer support via email, phone calls and video call. I also test new software for bugs and started to visit sites more often to commission and installation equipment.Currently, I spend more time on-site than in the office, this a lot of travel for work, mainly outside of the UK. Some of the places that I have visited are the US, Singapore, Brazil, Turkey, Finland and the majority of Europe. I enjoy travelling as I like to experience other cultures, so far I have worked in over 20 countries throughout the world on over 150 sites.Some of the type of sites I typically visit would include paper and pulp mills, starch and gluten extraction mills, wastewater treatment plants, water treatment plants plus many more plants that require water analysis or process water treatment.
