• Employed as a Contractor for Volt Consulting Group, working with Rolls Royce Controls & Data Services (formerly Aero Engine Controls). • During this time I have gained knowledge and experience in the Trent 1000 fuel pump, my job was to build O/E pumps, give full product assurance testing, and despatch to the customer. • Responsible for the running and conducting of TPMs of the Trent 1000 test rig. I am fully competent in ATEX and DSEAR safety requirements for the rig which I operated. • I was a part of the New Product Introduction team (NPI) for the Trent XWB 97K fuel pump. In this process I was responsible for building and assessing the effects of the de-risked PAT which was performed by project and test engineers.• Trained in 5S, I also have attended problem solving sessions and continuous improvement (CI) events.

• I was a member of the High Throughput Team which included: Cardiac, Cancer, Mitochondrial, Skeletal Dysplasia’s and other specialist services. My responsibility was for the efficient and accurate service delivery that is essential to patient care. This included routine, pre-symptomatic, pre-natal and urgent testing in accordance with the genetic white paper targets and adhering to internal and external (NEQAS & EQA) quality standards.• Trained in Sanger sequencing (both automated and manual); PCR methods, Multiplex Ligation dependant Probe Amplification (MLPA); High Resolution Melt Analysis; Restriction Enzyme Digest; Nucleon Extraction; EZ-1 Extraction; Direct PCR; TP-PCR; AmpfSTR; and CF testing. I have routinely performed sequence analysis using mutation surveyor and sequence scanner, Level 1 report writing, SOP writing and competent in the use of the STARLIMS and MS Access databases that are in use at the laboratory.• I was part of the Health & Safety team where my role was to COSHH assess and review reagents and new equipment that came into the laboratory.• Responsible for managing and maintaining the two ABI 3730 DNA Analysers and three Beckman and Coulter liquid handing robots. • I liaised with outside company Field Service Engineers to come into the laboratory to fix any major issues with the sequencers.• Responsible in managing monthly journal clubs, where all Genetic Technologists would gather peer reviewed journals for discussion of new technologies and potential improvements to service delivery or training sessions. The journals and training sessions would alternate from month to month.• I trained other Technologists and trainee Scientists in routine techniques when required.

• Employed as a Higher Healthcare Technical Officer at the MHRA regulated Donor Testing Department within the NHS Blood & Transplant Service in Birmingham.• My role was to conduct microbiological and serological testing on blood and tissues donated by the public and the Armed Forces.• Trained in using automated liquid handlers such as Hamilton STAR platform, which conducted all the laboratory’s ELISA testing, and QUASAR by Qiagen which performed Anti-D panel testing.• Responsible for general upkeep of the laboratory on a daily basis.
