I am the Sales Engineer for the new construction projects in our Boise office. In my position I work with the local contractors, engineers and owners to design Building Automation Systems to meet their designs and project needs. This includes plan and spec jobs as well as design build systems. Once I have a good idea of the project goals I design a system to meet those goals and put together an estimated cost of the project. This includes working with local electrical installers as well as any other subcontractors we may need. I also work with our operations team as they are the ones to go ahead and implement our system after I have obtained a project. I make sure to give them a detailed description of the project and provide them with any information they may need. Working with the sales team has been a lot of fun and I am excited to continue improving and working to help ATS grow and succeed. Show less

At ATS I am responsible for the design, installation, commissioning and trouble-shooting of Alerton automation systems. While in this position I worked with both the sales and operations teams. With the sales team I work with customers to define the scope and pricing for control system installations, upgrades and additions. To do so I came up with the initial design, and estimation of Alerton automation systems based on customer requirements. Upon receiving a job, I facilitated the transfer of the job to the operations team. This is where I brought them up to speed on the job and how I designed it. The operations team then would take the job and finalize the design and facilitate the implementation and start up of the job. This includes the submittals, installation, programming, graphics, start up, commissioning and troubleshooting along the way. I started in the operations team and slowly moved towards the sales side of the house. By working with both the marketing and operations teams I was able to see projects go from a set of drawings and specifications to a fully installed system. This was a great learning tool for me to get up to speed on all the different equipment and processes involved in control systems. Show less

In these roles there was a lot of customer interaction and trouble shooting of various problems from damaged equipment to climbing injuries. While working at the Outdoor Program I obtained many certifications: Wilderness First Responder, CPR, Climbing Wall Instructor, First Aid and Whitewater Raft Guide. My biggest take away from this job was the importance of proper feedback. I learned not only how to properly give constructive feedback but also how to receive feedback. Feedback was an essential of our job given the large amount of teamwork involved and, if done properly, it can significantly improve the goal of those involved. Show less

My main project with Barrick Gold was to make a Request for Proposal (RFP) of the underground infrastructure. To do so I spent time to learn how all of the different machinery worked and then inspected both the machinery and its surrounding support structure as to develop a maintenance plan to increase the life of the mine. In the mean time I took it upon myself to implement some design changes on a belt feeder system. In the mean time I took it upon myself to implement some design changes on a belt feeder system. I was able to increase the efficiency of the system by cutting down the maintenance time from 1 hour per shift down to 10 min. That increased the belt's run time by 2.5 hours a day. Barrick Gold taught me how to identify a problem and come up with a real applicable solution to machinery I had never seen before. It was an interesting challenge. Show less

Civil Engineering Intern

During my time at Jacobs Engineering I primarily utilized AutoCAD to design topographic models to implement a new building foundation. However, I also visited several job sites to inspect the installation of our design. For example at one site I tested pipe pressure and connections to ensure they met the specifications. I also took some time to work with a Hydrologist to survey river flow and erosion implications. Given the diversity of my work I gained a lot of practical knowledge of the… Show more During my time at Jacobs Engineering I primarily utilized AutoCAD to design topographic models to implement a new building foundation.
