Long experience in conserving land through conservation easements, charitable gifts and bargain sales, and purchase, with emphasis on creative partnerships with local, state, and federal government. Committed to social equity and very interested in conservation and high quality stewardship of urban land as well as suburban, rural, and wild land. Having relocated in 2016 from Cambridge, MA to Portland, Oregon, I began writing my book, now titled "Contentious Quests: Two Hundred Years of Land Conservation in Britain and America," a critical narrative. The second draft manuscript was borrowed by a university class in conservation ecology and practice. Reviews were excellent and I'm in the process of revising the narrative for publication. Meanwhile, I've been working with groups advocating for reduced diesel pollution in the Portland metropolitan area. The lack of effective national regulation of heavy trucking and construction equipment is a scandal. The technology exists for alleviating this scourge of communities and neighborhoods near major highways, railyards, ports, and large construction sites. What is lacking is public awareness and understanding and stroner regulation by federal and state environmental agencies.
