XO Group, Inc merged to The Knot Worldwide as the new parent organization.Projects and accomplishments include - Leading a small team to port a user-facing front end application from an outdated Ruby on Rails monolith into a server-side rendered React application. - Designing and implementing a backend REST api to integrate in-house applications with a third party SAAS offering. This included data modeling, Domain Driven Design considerations, RESTful design considerations, and implementation of the api using the hapi framework in Node.js - Bringing legacy Node.js applications up to date with our internal Best Practices to improve stability, performance, and maintainability. This included overseeing a team of 2-3 engineers by creating a prioritizing tickets, coordinating QA testing and acceptance, and managing production deployments to maintain parity and availability for consuming applications owned by other teams in the company. - Helping to develop a living and evolving set of Best Practices used within our vertical of the Engineering organization, and working to drive engineer engagement with the discussions around Best Practices. - Onboarding multiple teams from other background into our organization's preferred Node.js and architectural Best Practices. This occasionally included traveling to remote offices to do in person pair programming, training, and technical retrospectives. - Researching and presenting knowledge sharing sessions within my local engineering team, as well as encouraging and facilitating other engineers to do the same.
