I've worked in the PayTV industry for 22 years. I’ve spent 20 years developing embedded C middleware for set-top-boxes and almost 3 years integrating Google’s ExoPlayer media player with an IPTV application for Android. Due to the complexity of the end-to-end broadcast environments I've been involved with, I've also had a broad exposure to a wide range of technologies and other programming languages.I am a highly motivated, reliable and conscientious individual with exceptional commitment for detail. I have strong people skills that have helped me manage and lead development teams across a variety of challenging roles. Throughout my career I've gained a thorough understanding of how to motivate my team and I believe in leading by example. Having collaborated with teams both in and outside my organisation, I've particularly enjoyed working on customer sites where I've had the opportunity to meet customer engineering teams face to face.My work involves solving complex end-to-end problems where I've worked under pressure, focusing on doing what is necessary to meet aggressive deadlines. Risk assessment and problem mitigation are important parts of my work. Due to the nature of the products we deliver, my work has a heavy focus on quality and automated testing.Throughout my career, I’ve also had a passion for Python scripting and technologies for creating Web applications. I’m also experienced in setting up Linux servers in both bare metal and virtual machines, as well as using Docker to containerise tools for the team.
