A lucky few are gifted with the abilities to reach success with ease. The rest of us are left having to work and prepare for success, and some lack the discipline to prepare. I was lucky to have parents that preached that success is reached through hard work and perseverance. Consequently, I learned to work for everything and develop qualities that would result in success. Among these skills are leadership, perseverance, and a strong work ethic. Helping others is very important to me, and through leadership roles, I am awarded the chance to bring out the best in others. For example, I was promoted to become a swim coach. Through this leadership position, I encouraged my age group during practice and helped guide the team to two consecutive summer championships. I also value perseverance and hard work. Education is very important to me, so I push myself academically. I was diagnosed with ADD in elementary school, and I had to work to develop study habits to succeed with that diagnosis. Through trial and error, I have learned how to excel in the fast paced and competitive Kelley School of Business as I pursue a Accounting major accompanied by a Finance minor. In the future, I hope to find a home in a company that rewards the values I view as my strength.
