Event Production Services is now in Salt Lake City too!In the process of designing and managing shows and special events, I get to work with a diverse group of clients as a Technical Director, Production Manager, or Production Designer. I still enjoy getting my hands dirty as a Rigger and Lighting or Audio Engineer.I have worked for rock shows and product launches. For corporate award presentations and Presidential golf tournaments. Live bass fishing television and gala fundraisers. My experience spans 37+ years of playing different roles in producing all manner of events since 1981.With boundless imagination and endless enthusiasm, coupled with the latest technology or using the oldest trick in the book; I remain driven to perfecting the art of creating exemplary atmospheres and event environments. That's the flowery description of what I do. The real description is this - I create experiences for people who attend events that I am a part of. Whether my role is the scenic designer, the lighting programmer, the audio engineer, the rigger, or the technical director - my number 1 job is to create an experience for the attendees that is beyond their expectations.Specialties: Audio - Lighting - Video - Staging - ScenicDesign & Live ProductionWhile under the tutelage of others, many lessons were imparted:I learned the perception of value.I learned how to be calm in a stressful situation. I learned fairness and ethics. I remember what it is like to be the guy under the stage or up in the roof all day.I want to be my vendors' favorite client and my clients' favorite vendor.I can manage your budget as though it were my own money.

I create beautiful environments for all sorts of special events in all manner of locations. My team can turn a gymnasium into a gala, an arena into a fishing tournament, a film studio into a boutique lounge -we get awesome results for clients like the TriBeCa Film Festival, the South by Southwest Film and Music Festival, Fortune 500 companies, and even schools in the Atlanta area.

Anyone who doesn't think leading Cub Scouts is a big job has never done it. We do all sorts of activities including swimming, camping, hiking, and mentoring young boys.I thoroughly enjoy it. I don't have my guys making those brown-paper-sack-hand-puppets either. We make PVC pipe / 2L bottle air rockets and teach the boys to cook their own camp meals over a campfire. Not hotdogs either...
My best clients come to me with an idea - that's all. We sit and brainstorm and create an environment in concept. I take that idea into the discovery phase where I apply it to the reality of our setting...how the venue and logistics relate to what can be done and what can appear to be done. I create things for the audience that do not exist and cannot be done, and yet, here they are. I specialize in doing the gigs that can't be done. And nobody crams 4 semis of production into a ballroom better than me.I manage the process from technical 3-D drawings and renderings, working with the venue and other vendors, supervising crew chiefs and stagehands; I make gigs happen, clients smile, and audiences applaud all around the world.I still get a thrill hanging 150,000 pounds overhead too. That's more than most shows, which land somewhere between 10,000 - 50,000 pounds. I love what I do.
I create events from the napkin to the applause. I do all the stuff in between.
Mercenary was my first real stab at owning equipment and servicing corporate accounts. I started the company in Chicago and built a reputation there. Much of the work was performed in other cities however. I merged with I&T in 1997 because it created a more stable platform with my partners and had a better name for the corporate market.
While at Pete's, I toured with music groups like Pantera and Huey Lewis. I was the Crew Chief for the stadium tour of the Budweiser Superfest - setting up in Soldier Field, RFK Stadium, and the Georgia Dome to name a few. Pete's taught me how to be fast and efficient without worrying about superficial details that were not necessary to getting the immediate job done.

I wound up buying the lighting department from Media Control in 1995 and servicing their clients under a deal we created. I learned a lot about the corporate marketplace and how it relates to theatrical entertainment production.
While at SSI, I did more one-offs than I can remember. We did shows 4 nights each week, usually for 4 different groups, sometimes in 4 different cities. I got to flash shows for several great acts, and worked in almost every venue in the Southeast. It was hard work but a blast.
Reel Rock helped me cut my teeth in the industry. I learned the basics and helped create several methods of getting production accomplished in difficult locations. We did lots of outdoor work - university and festival gigs - and some corporate work. They taught me how to mix audio, flash lights, and climb steel. I learned how to build a dimmer pack or an audio splitter snake from scratch. We carried hundreds of 4x8 plywood over 2x4 stage decks in the hot Florida sun. Hung par 64's in live oak trees on a plantation. Flew Santa Claus down from the roof. Rigged holiday decorations in shopping malls by climbing around in the exposed steel ceilings.
