Whitney guided and supported the team during a challenging time when we expanded youth support programs (which had moved to be all virtual) and hired additional staff to meet the growing needs of LGBTQ+ young people as isolation was particularly painful for this community. Whitney inherited an ambitious strategic plan and over the course of her first two years led efforts that resulted in an increase in diverse youth, staff, and board joining the organization; the identification, lease, and renovation of a new fully accessible home for OMW; and the greatest fundraising revenues we ever experienced. Post pandemic restrictions, programs returned to in-person and continued to flourish. Throughout her tenure, Whitney worked closely with the staff and board to address issues of racial justice, refine policies and processes, diversify funding streams, and prepare OMW for its first financial audit—this work included significant changes to upgrade financial management practices. Through this all, Whitney has been a collaborative, supportive, and deeply caring leader. My—and the entire Board of Directors’—trust in her was unwavering and we both navigated difficult waters and realized tremendous achievements together.
