Interim Managing Attorney

-Works collaboratively with all program staff on strategic communications, long-term community engagement, development, policy advocacy, organizing, and other strategies and tactics; - Manages all aspects of the SALSA’s substantive legal programs, with assistance from program Staff Attorneys and appropriate subject-matter expert volunteers; - Develops and maintains relationships with pro-bono volunteers, including in-house lawyers, private firms, allied organizations, and law students, and work closely with staff to develop training and resource materials to engage these volunteers; - Oversee case-management procedures as necessary to ensure that SALSA volunteers are efficiently and competently providing legal services in extended representation matters; - Supervises, proactively mentors, and trains organizational team that includes staff attorneys, volunteer attorneys, support staff, and law student interns; - Fosters the organizational culture that empowers staff, encourages professional development, and emphasizes a commitment to upholding the highest ethical ideals of the legal profession and our values in diversity, equity, and inclusion; - Identifies community needs and develops new clinical and extended-representation programs to meet those needs; - Maintains good working relationships with bar associations, firms, and similar organizations to ensure a pipeline of volunteers, ensure programmatic success, and raise the profile of the organization in the legal community; - Serves as a public-facing speaker for the organization by participating in panels, and public forums, and interviews related to legal topics that promote organizational priorities and programs
