Gene Therapy• Our laboratory uses adeno-associated viruses (AAV) as gene delivery vectors to target a wide range of rare genetic diseases which include Giant Axonal Neuropathy (GAN), Batten disease, Rett syndrome, Pitt-Hopkins syndrome, and others • My primary research focus is to develop novel AAV vectors that can cross the blood brain barrier and target different areas of the brain with high specificity and low toxicity to peripheral organs• Approaches that I am using to engineer these novel AAV vectors include:o Rational design o capsid shuffling• Facets of my projects also involve clinical trial phases
Research Assistant
