My responsibilities require me to ensure all customers have a pleasant, wholesome and safe grocery shopping experience within the store. I ensure customers are greeted as they enter the store, locate items that are not able to be located, bag the products they purchase, verify the correctness of prices when needed and deliver purchased items to their vehicles upon request. Additionally, I operate the stores cash registers to aid customers with the completion of their shopping experience. Operating the cash registers gives me the opportunity to promote the special monthly sales promotions. The monthly sales promotions increase the number of repeat customers and store sales. I assist with keeping the store’s shelves stock with the products most desired by our customers. Stocking the shelves also allows me to build good relationships with the patrons of the store, during this time I get to speak with them one-on-one about their experience at the store and learn more about other products or services they may need in the future.

In this position I made contact with members of the university's alumni, visitors of the university and the general public to promote Alabama State University. I assisted the public relation director with the creation of literature and promotional items to be distributed during the football season. I was given the opportunity to interact with the student body, members of the alumni and fans of the football team by assisting with the distribution of the promotional items. I assisted with the development and maintained an Excel database that contain the names, address, and contact phone numbers of the university alumni. The database was utilized as the main resource of outreach to the university alumni members.

The position required me to assist patrons of the University Bookstore with purchases of books, supplies, clothing and personal items. I kept the shelves and display racks stocked with products. Arranged the display racks according to the company point of sales marketing schematics. I preformed housekeeping duties around the store sales area and stock room.
