Fundraising for renovation of baseball and softball fields at Lafortune Park, Tulsa, Oklahoma. The property at the southwest corner of Lafortune is currently under a long term lease by Tulsa Little League Baseball, Inc.. The goal is to raise $10 million to remove all existing facilities and replace them with six new fields. One of the fields will be dedicate for use by Little League Baseball's Challenger League, a league dedicated to allowing physically challenged children to experience playing baseball. Adjacent to the Challenger field will be a playground designed for children under 12 year of age and designed to accommodate children with disabilities. Tulsa Little League Baseball enrolls close to one thousand children on an annual basis in its baseball programs. The remaining fields will be designed to replicate Major League Baseball parks and will be played on an artificial surface that reduces injuries and is immediately available following inclement weather. The fields will have state of the art lighting for nighttime games. The lighting will be much brighter than the current lighting scheme which adds an additional safety factor. The new complex will dramatically enhance the area and be attractive for local, regional and national tournaments. This will be a boost for the local economy. This facility will be a showcase for youth baseball and softball.
