Architecture has been my career choice since a very young age drawing house plans when I should have been paying attention in church. I landed my first internship at Holleyman Associates during my senior year in high school and worked for that firm all the way through college. It was a small, but growing firm where I learned a tremendous amount about how to run a firm. After college in January 2004, my wife and I moved to Texas to take a job at a larger national firm Raymond Harris & Associates Architects. Moving to Texas was not our first choice, but at the time allowed me to intern while concurrently taking the ARE exam. That plan worked out and I finished my IDP requirements and passed my last ARE exam in December 2006. I received my license in April 2007 and was promoted to Co-Program Manager and invited to be an associate in the firm. Our workload was tremendous and in 2008-2010 on the middle of the recession our program churned out an average of 85 projects per year. In subsequent years, my co-manager was moved to another program and I took sole reigns of our remodel program. We continued to produce great work and contribute to our clients overall objectives, however a change began to occur corporately within our company and main client. Our client demanded we diversify our client portfolio while at the same time reducing our workload year after year. The firm reduced staff, usually through attrition to remain profitable. I was shifted to a Construction Administration role where I coordinated and/or performed all CA efforts for the firm (now RHA Architects) during 2016-2018. In May 2018, I transitioned to D2 Architecture continuing a Construction Administration role and Project Manager duties. As my family has grown, I have coached soccer since 2009 and became a referee in 2013. I have also been assigning referees for two local soccer associations for the last two years. My daughter plays competitive soccer, my son is heavily involved in Boy Scouts and my wife is a MDO teacher locally in Waxahachie. We have also had custody of my sister-in-law since 2012 when she was 14. She is now 21 and attending UTA for a teaching degree. I’ll admit I wear a lot of hats both personally and professionally and I take pride in giving each one the attention to detail that they deserve.
