• Worked closely with the President's National Security Advisers and other senior White House staff including the Vice President’s Office, the National Economic Council, the Office of Management and Budget, and U.S. Trade Representative to set and achieve legislative priorities in international affairs.• Maintained personal contact with large number of members and staff from the Congressional leadership, and the Appropriations, budget, foreign policy, trade and defense committees. Served as White House liaison with members and Congressional staff to negotiate legislation, and inform them of Administration foreign policy positions and initiatives during hearings, mark ups, floor debate and conference committees.• Coordinated inter-agency legislative efforts with State, Treasury, Defense, and Justice Departments on major foreign policy legislative issues. Areas of focus included: appropriations for international programs, trade and sanctions issues, peacekeeping, counter-narcotics activities, and arms sales.• Helped shape Administration response to legislation affecting countries/regions such as: Bosnia, China, Turkey, Greece, the Middle East, Russia and the New Independent States, Indonesia, North Korea, Burma, Haiti, Central America, the Caribbean and Africa.
