CurrentSPG is a group of distinguished gentlemen with multi-faceted backgroundsand experiences. Founded in the year 2022, we believe in the importance of changing thenegative stereotypes of Gangs and its influence on inner-city youth, especially young AfricanAmerican men. Our goal is to replace those stereotypes and behaviors with positive images and opportunitiesthrough mentoring, accessibility, affirmation, communication, and most importantly, action. Thelived experiences and challenges that each of our members had to overcome as young adults iswhat drives us to be more impactful in the community.The importance of our work and what we do in the community can be encapsulated in four keyareas:Mentoring:“Reach One Teach One”, our motto and what we firmly believe in, is our dedication to making adifference. Each member of the SPG serves as positive role models andadvisors to an expanding community of young men in the Houston area. We understand theunique challenges and decisions that young men are faced with. Our goal is to buildrelationships and provide mentorship to help with those life changing events.Health and Wellness:Our focus on the emotional, physical, and psychological well being of individualsEducation:Education is the key to advancing any marginalized group in our society today. We understandthe inequities and challenges that young men will face in the education system and finding theirway to healthy independence.
