Everyday mental health is even more important to people of all socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. Good everyday mental health drives good overall health, healing, and less use of medical services. Some of the most frequent reasons people seek care—back pain, chest pain, insomnia, acid reflux, and headaches—are also how stress typically manifests in the body. Studies have shown that over 50% of high healthcare utilizers are under psychological distress and that anxiety- and stress-related conditions are most likely to enter the healthcare system as physical health complaints, as opposed to mental health ones. In some cases, primary care visits for ultimately stress-related problems have been estimated to be as much as 70% of a physician’s case load. We created Lore to solve for this problem of everyday mental healthLore helps people with their everyday mental health by combining artificial intelligence and long-established science to (1) prompt self-reflection, (2) reward people for that self-reflection, and (3) create community connections for sharing and support.
