Involvement in the Mineral Products Association recycled aggregates technical group, this national group provides feedback to government & European bodies regarding further development of standards for recycled aggregates.• Regular liason with local authorities regarding the planning permissions on all seven of the companies sites, liason with operations staff to ensure we are working within our planning permissions on all sites. Liason with planning consultants if planning permissions require modifying or new applications are required. • Overseeing the daily running of the companies office based sales team and shipping department to ensure all daily business activities are completed in the most efficient way.This role has built on my prior knowledge and experience gained in all previous roles and has enabled me to gain a considerable amount of knowledge regarding legislation relevant to the waste management industry, as such I possess an in depth knowledge of waste management legislation, environment agency regulations and technical requirements for recycled products. This was developed by me from scratch to a point where it was performing 16 tests every week on… Show more Reporting to the Commercial Director I moved into a managerial role to oversee the compliance of all aspects of the business with legislative requirements and technical standards, research & development into technologies and systems to improve the compliance, efficiency and profitability of the business, duties included:• Development and management of an internal aggregates laboratory. This was developed by me from scratch to a point where it was performing 16 tests every week on internally produced aggregate products and was due to become a UKAS accredited testing laboratory, unfortunately this facility was mothballed in mid 2008 due to cost cuts.• Development and implementation from scratch of a quality control system for our internally produced recycled aggregate products from our wash plant and crushing operations to prove compliance with the WRAP quality protocol for recycled aggregates.• Development and implementation of systems to ensure compliance of incoming wastes with waste management licence criteria, including analysis of chemical testing data which enabled me to gain an in depth knowledge of these criteria to a point where I am able to advise customers as to the correct strategy to use when carrying out land remediation projects.• Research into new technologies and development of advanced waste management systems. As part of a planned project to install a state of the art recycling facility on the site of our current waste transfer station I designed a system that was able to achieve 100% recovery of all incoming wastes involving such technologies as optical and infra red sorting, laminar air flow density separation and pyrolysis waste to energy. This project was shelved in 2007 due to the downturn in the global economy but the project enabled me to gain considerable knowledge of waste recycling and recovery technologies. Show less
