Initially a detached youth worker, alongside one other, building relationships with young people in the Tollcross area because there was no existing youth work provision. Through organising activities, trips and a film project we then established a weekly youth club for 15-18 year olds. When they moved on we develop a 'transitions' weekly youth club for young people between p6 and s2, including weekly activities,games, trips, support and discussion topics.

I worked 3 days a week as an adult education tutor in Crisis Skylight Edinburgh. These involved supporting people affected by homelessness through learning opportunities, including cooking groups, a homeless-led peer support group (Common Ground), music groups (e.g. Songs That Shaped Our Lives), housing rights, bike mechanics and cycle rides, action research, budgeting, political literacy and discussion, history groups, and more. It also involved supporting learners to get SQA qualifications and becoming a SCQF level 8 qualified assessor.
