I was part of this club all four years of college and for my senior project, where I primarily worked on the rocket's combustion system. This project was mainly R&D, iteratively designing our combustion system to increase efficiency by weight and output more thrust. Background research was done, models were created and analyzed in solidworks and other software, the designs were machined, multiple test fires were carried out, and the data was analyzed to help us improve our design. During my time in the club, our combustion system went from a piece of aluminum that failed under thermal load hooked up to a glorified diving tank full of oxidizer, to one cohesive structure capable of outputting over 300 pounds of thrust.
